Made up of a diverse group of AFRP members from across the country, the AFRP Government Affairs Committee diligently advocates for Palestinian rights to ensure that our voices are heard and represented within all levels of government.
Since its inception, the Committee has grown significantly in both size and impact. Over the past two years, AFRP has met with hundreds of congressional offices, opening dialogue and building stronger relationships with elected officials from both sides of the aisle. AFRP also played a pivotal and leading role in pushing back against the COGAT regulations on entry/travel to the West Bank and Israel’s consideration for the Visa Waiver Program, securing the support of dozens of Members of Congress and significant wins for our community.
AFRP’s governmental work has also provided an opportunity for the Ramallah community to become more involved in political advocacy at the national, state, and local levels. These efforts include arranging meetings between members and their elected officials, providing regular updates and information on the latest news related to our work, and facilitating community meetings with officials from the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security, and other government bodies.
Through the work of the Government Affairs Committee, AFRP has become a prominent player in the advocacy space in DC and beyond, successfully uplifting the priorities and demands of the Ramallah community.
