2024 Applications are NOW OPEN!
We welcome campers to join us June 16-22 for Camp Ramallah!
This year’s camp will take place at Camp Kanuga near the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. We are committed to fostering an environment of connection with others and learn more about our Palestinian heritage. Campers will enjoy many exciting indoor and outdoor activities and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Campers must be between the ages of 13 and 17, and their families must be Federation members. Those who will be 18 or will have graduated high school by June 16 can apply to be a CIT, Counselor-In-Training. Please register for camp as you normally would and select CIT when prompted. CITs are still required to pay camp registration fees.
NOTE: Parents need to make sure to add their children to their household in My AFRP and purchase a Family membership or higher before registering.
Please arrange transportation to camp by car or to Asheville (AVL), North Carolina airport. For flights, aim to arrive between 10 am and 3 pm on June 16; inform us if outside these hours. Those driving can arrive at camp between 10 am and 3 pm on June 16. Departure should be by noon on June 22. Flight details will be collected for pick-up.
Those interested can also apply to be camp counselors! Counselors will have the role of providing for and protecting the campers. They are facilitators of the camp’s programs and must lead by example. For more information on expectations for the camp counselors, read the staff manual.
Counselors must be at least age 19 and have completed at least one year in college. Counselors must be Federation members. Applications for counselors are due by March 31st.
If you are applying to be a counselor, make sure to download and complete the reference form, and send it to Dillon Odeh at [email protected].
About Camp Ramallah
Camp Ramallah is a weeklong camp for children between the ages of 13 and 17. Annually the camp is hosted during the months of June or July and applications are usually open between January and March. Applications will be available for campers, counselors in training, counselors and adult chaperons. The selection criteria will be shared once the application process is available.
The purpose of Camp Ramallah is to bring young members of the Federation from across the US to come together and meet in one place in a camp environment to experience Ramallah Heritage, Palestine History, and Ramallah Culture all in one place, all while enjoying adventurous outdoor experiences, and engaging with their extended Ramallah family.
The inaugural Camp Ramallah 2018 took place in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee hosting a weeklong camp for 37 campers. In 2019, 50 campers met in Asheville, NC to build relationships, learn about our Palestinian history and context, and strengthen their commitment to our community. Camp Ramallah increases in size every year.
