The American Federation of Ramallah Palestine (AFRP) expresses its unequivocal rejection of President Trump’s stance that the United States occupy Gaza and forcibly displace Palestinians in Gaza. A military takeover of Gaza would be a costly mistake, reminiscent of the invasion of Iraq, and would further drive instability in the region. Moreover, removal of a people from their homeland is a blatant violation of human rights and international law and cannot be justified under any circumstances.
We urge the Trump administration to recognize the Palestinian people’s right to self determination, security, and dignity. Forced displacement only exacerbates suffering, fuels instability, and prolongs the cycle of violence for both Palestinians and Israelis. A just and lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect, and a commitment to human rights.
Mr. President, if peace is truly your objective, we urge you to reconsider your stance. A just resolution for the Palestinian people is not only a moral obligation but the only viable path to lasting stability in the region. Palestinians deserve to live freely and with dignity in their ancestral homeland. As a leader who has positioned himself as a peacemaker, you have a responsibility to uphold these principles and ensure that the Palestinian people are heard.
