On behalf of the American Federation of Ramallah, Palestine (representing over 45,000 Palestinian-Americans), we appeal to President Biden and President-elect Donald Trump to use this election transition period to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, halt the offensive arming of Israel, stop extremist settlers’ actions against Palestinians in the West Bank, and urgently support the United Nations’ efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and Lebanon.
We urge both leaders to seize this moment to begin a new era where peace and justice prevail over war and destruction.
The 2024 election has been particularly painful for our families, as the ongoing war on civilians in Gaza and Israel’s actions have endangered our ancestral homeland. For Palestinian Americans, this is not just a geopolitical issue but a deeply personal one, tied to our families, identity, and sense of justice. The lack of nuanced discussion about Palestinian rights and a viable peace process only deepens our frustration, making it difficult to feel represented or hopeful for meaningful change.
As Americans, we must work to forge a new era of peace, grounded in justice, civil rights, and human rights for all. Our community will continue to tirelessly advocate for the peace, respect, and dignity of the Palestinian people in their homeland.
