Annual Convention FAQs

Hotel rooms can only be booked after completing convention registration. Once registered, you will receive access to a dedicated booking link for the Omni Hotel, available exclusively to convention attendees.

Yes. AFRP membership is required for all AFRP events, including the convention. If you have not paid AFRP dues for the current year, you will need to complete TWO separate transactions during registration: one for AFRP membership dues and one for convention registration.

No. For accurate financial tracking and recordkeeping, all registration payments must be completed through the myAFRP portal.

Yes - but. If you choose to register in person, you may only register through the myAFRP portal and for events that still have availability the week of the convention. Please note that many events (including the banquet) have separate registration deadlines to plan for food, transportation, and logistics. Convention registration will close on July 12, 2026 to allow time to prepare badges and other supplies, and will reopen on July 22, 2026.

No. Event capacities are set to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Certain events are closed once capacity is reached to account for food, transportation, and other logistics. Unfortunately, exceptions cannot be made once an event is full.  

No. Some convention events are open to all attendees, while others are limited to specific age groups. The Houston Steering Committee and the AFRP both reserve the right to remove someone from an event at their discretion.

We make every effort to honor initial seating selections; however, banquet seating is subject to change to due logistical needs. We reserve the right to adjust seating assignments as necessary. Attendees will be notified if their table assignment changes.

Yes. Your badge includes a QR code that confirms your event registrations and assists our security team in ensuring the safety of all attendees. Badges must be worn at all times, and no exceptions will be made.

No. Refunds will not be issued under normal circumstances, including cancellations during the week of the convention. Exceptions may be considered only in cases of severe illness or death in the family. Supporting documentation may be required.
